VERSION 0.1.1 · 25 SEPTEMBER 2026
What we tested.
The checker has been tested against three saved scene files from Unity's public Input System repository, plus 24 synthetic checks. These are static file checks. We have not run the tool in the Unity Editor or verified actual clicks in Play Mode.
A gap these tests caught
Version 0.1.0 missed input modules that store pointer references as m_PointAction and m_LeftClickAction. Version 0.1.1 recognizes those fields and reports empty references. Non-empty references remain unresolved: the tool cannot tell whether the external asset exists or whether the action works.
Public scene results
The three files are pinned to InputSystem commit c61cc671e24fbc097de417d3ea564224828e99e9, with file hashes recorded in our regression manifest. They are not bundled with the tool.
- GamepadMouseCursorSample: 4 direct button patterns, 1 EventSystem and 1 input module recognized. Four empty Inspector listener lists were informational findings.
- RebindingUISampleScene: 5 direct button patterns, 1 EventSystem, 1 input module and 21 prefab instances recognized. Null listener targets and an inactive hierarchy were flagged for review. Prefab contents remain outside coverage.
- UIInputModuleTestScene: 1 EventSystem and 1 input module recognized, with no direct button patterns. This is reported as limited coverage, not as proof that the scene is healthy.
We also replaced Point and Left Click references with zero in separate test copies of each file. All six controlled mutations produced the expected missing-reference prompt. No upstream files were changed.
What these results do not establish
A saved inactive menu or empty event can be intentional. We have not established that any of these sample projects has a runtime defect. The tests do not prove compatibility with every Unity version, correct raycast behavior, resolved prefabs, external assets or runtime listeners. They are not customer tests, testimonials or an endorsement by Unity.
